Samsung applies EUV technology to DRAM production for the first time

According to ZDnet, Samsung announced that it has successfully applied EUV technology to DRAM production.

Samsung has shipped 1 million 10nm DDR4 DRAM modules manufactured using the EUV process, and has been evaluated by customers. Samsung said that the completion of the evaluation will pave the way for mass production of new DRAMs next year.

Samsung's EUV-only V2 production line at the Pyeongtaek plant will begin production of DRAM modules in the second half of the year. The production line is expected to produce 4th generation 10nm DDR5 and LPDDR5.

This is another chip produced by the Pyeongtaek plant in addition to 7nm logic chips using EUV technology. Samsung claims that EUV technology will double the production efficiency of a single 12-inch wafer.

Global semiconductor manufacturers such as Samsung, Intel and TSMC are expected to expand the use of EUV technology in chip production. Samsung has previously stated that it plans to use EUV technology to produce 3nm chips.
