Micron clarifies: Expansion of the A3 plant only in Taiwan will not increase wafer output

On August 26, according to the Central News Agency, Taiwan Micron confirmed the construction of the A3 plant in Taichung, but denied the planning of the A5 plant and said it would not increase production capacity.

Earlier this morning, according to the Economic Daily, Micron will spend NT$400 billion (about RMB 90.8 billion) to build two fabs next to the existing Taiwanese plant site to produce DRAM for the next generation of the latest process.

In this regard, Micron pointed out that there is no relevant planning for the A5 plant, and the construction of the A3 plant is mainly to increase the space and technology upgrade of the clean room equipment, and will not increase the wafer output. The plant is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of next year. . However, for the amount of investment, Micron said it could not reveal the details.

Recently, the expansion of Micron's Fab 10 plant in Singapore has also been completed. The plant has not increased its production capacity. It is also a technology upgrade, which enables Micron to continue to produce multi-layer flash memory products with high process requirements.
