US Department of Commerce: Restrictions on 33 Chinese companies take effect on June 5

According to CCTV News, the US Department of Commerce said on Wednesday local time that the restrictions on the 33 Chinese companies and institutions listed last month will be officially implemented this Friday.

According to previous reports, the US Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) announced on May 22 local time that it would include 24 government agencies and business organizations headquartered in China, Hong Kong, and the Cayman Islands in the entity list. The reason is that these agencies threaten US national security, and the use of US goods and technology poses a significant risk of being used in military projects. In addition, BIS also announced that the Forensic Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China and eight other companies were included in the entity list, that is, 33 companies or government agencies that were included in the entity list this time.

According to the regulations, the export, re-export, or transshipment of commodities that are included in the regulations to companies that are added to the list of entities require authorization from the US Department of Commerce.

It is understood that the newly added 33 companies include: Beijing Computational Science Research Center, Qihoo 360 Technology Co., Ltd., Harbin Engineering University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Yuncong Technology, Fiberhome Communications and its Nanjing subsidiary Fiberhome Sky, Yuntian Lifei.
