Recently, TSMC won another big order from Huawei. It is understood that Huawei Kirin 820 will use TSMC's 7nm process technology.

This is also the fact that TSMC, after the Kirin 990 processor, has once again obtained Huawei's second 5G chip, the Kirin 820, and has pushed up the 7nm process capacity utilization rate.

On March 30, Huawei released the Kirin 820 5G SoC chip. It is reported that the Kirin 820 5G SoC chip is upgraded again on the basis of the "Generation U" Kirin 810: a strong 8-core CPU performance increased by 27%, a new architecture GPU graphics capability increased by 38%, and a newly upgraded NPU AI performance increased by 73%.

In addition, Huawei also released the Honor 30S phone that night, and the Honor 30S also became the first mobile phone equipped with a 5G SoC Kirin 820.

Glory President Zhao Ming introduced that Kirin 820 uses the industry's advanced integrated 5G baseband technology. Compared with external 5G baseband chips, it brings better overall performance in terms of performance, heat dissipation and power consumption.

In terms of performance, the Kirin 820's CPU uses a three-stage energy efficiency architecture with 1 large core (developed based on Cortex-A76) + 3 medium cores (developed based on Cortex-A76) + 4 small cores (Cortex-A55), the highest frequency It is 2.36GHz. It is worth mentioning that the Kirin 820 core combination is further optimized for the daily use of mobile phones. Different application scenarios can schedule different cores and output sufficient performance while optimizing system energy consumption.
