Still not giving up! US CTO criticizes European countries to adopt Huawei 5G equipment

Although European countries have already stated that they will use Huawei equipment within their own security framework, it seems that the United States has not given up.

According to Reuters, on Thursday, US Chief Technology Officer Michael Kratsios publicly criticized European countries for "open arms" to China's 5G network and artificial intelligence technology at a technical conference in Lisbon.

At the meeting, Michael Kratsios also emphasized the attitude towards Huawei.

As in previous clichés, Michael Kratsios said that Huawei has security risks and should not be trusted. But he still can't come up with any substantial evidence to prove this.

Michael Kratsios also stressed that the United States has imposed export controls on Huawei in May this year. European countries must "stand together" with the United States and stop using Huawei products.

As a decision maker for US technology and data policy, Michael Kratsios believes that "although the United States will not be consistent with Europe in every aspect of its technology policy, it should at least be consistent with this most critical principle."

However, it is clear that this statement by Michael Kratsios will not be recognized by European countries and major companies.

The data shows that Huawei has signed 65 contracts last month, half of which are 5G contracts with European customers, and more and more countries have begun to use Huawei 5G equipment.

It is understood that before joining the Trump administration, Michael Kratsios served as CEO of Peter Thiel's investment company Thiel Capital and served as the chief financial officer of another Thiel project, the hedge fund Clarium Capital.

The role of the US CTO was created during the Obama era, with three CTOs serving to date, the last of which was former Google student Megan Smith, who led the early acquisition of Google before moving to Google. The CTO position advises the President on technical issues, is committed to developing technology policies, and is important as a link to the private sector.
