MediaTek: Chromebook application processor shipments will double this year and next year

According to Taiwan Media Economic Daily, Quanta, Acer, MediaTek and Google jointly announced today (9) that they will launch the "Taiwan Education Digital Transformation" program, which will donate 500 Chromebooks to primary and secondary schools, and pair them with customized Chromebook-specific IoT Experiment Course.

Youjie, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Smart Device Business Department, MediaTek

It is reported that the Chromebook donated this time comes from Acer, the model is Spin 311, equipped with MediaTek's MT8183 processor.

Youjie, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Smart Device Business Unit of MediaTek, pointed out that MediaTek’s MT8183 processor products are produced using a 12nm process and are mainly used in markets such as tablets, Chromebooks and smart displays. MediaTek plans to launch the MT8192 processor at the end of this year, and the high-end MT8195 processor based on the 6nm process in the first half of next year.

In addition, Youjie emphasized that the company will have a complete product line from entry to high-end Chromebooks. Today and next year, its Chromebook application processor shipments will grow by multiples.

In addition to the processor, MediaTek also provides peripheral products such as power management ICs, WiFi 6 or 5G data cards, and most customers can use its Chromebook-related solutions for mass production.
