In order to ensure growth, Apple asked the United States to cancel the tariff on products such as Apple Watch.

According to Reuters, documents from the US Trade Representative Office show that Apple has filed a request for the Trump administration to exempt tariffs on Chinese-made Apple Watch, iPhone components and other consumer electronics products.

It is understood that the file submitted by Apple includes a total of 11 products, including HomePod speakers, iMac, parts for repairing iPhone, AirPods and so on.

Apple pointed out in the document that all of these products belong to consumer electronics products and have no correlation with China Manufacturing 2025 or other industrial projects. Therefore, the 15% tariff imposed on the application from September 1 should be reduced.

This is not the first company to make such a statement. Previously, smart device manufacturer FitBit had said that the vast majority of wearable devices around the world were produced in China. “Although South Korea and Taiwan have the ability to produce these products, they are basically used to produce or be associated with FitBit competitors, and we cannot use them.”

The importance of the wearable device and accessories business to Apple is self-evident. The latest financial report shows that products including Apple Watch, AirPods and HomePod have accounted for 9.4% of Apple's revenue, an increase of 41% over last year, and have become Apple's main growth driver in the future.
