Following Apple Silicon, TSMC is rumored to have received Apple’s self-developed GPU order

Apple announced Apple Silicon at the 2020 Online Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). At the same time, some whistleblowers pointed out that Apple will abandon AMD's GPU support in favor of its own ARM-based solution. Taiwanese media pointed out today that it is rumored that TSMC has received orders for GPUs developed by Apple.

According to Taiwan Media Economic Daily, Apple has expanded its self-made chips. Following the use of Apple Silicon processors in computers, it has been reported that Apple will use TSMC's 5nm to produce GPUs.

Apple announced at this year's WWDC that it will launch a new MacBook with more powerful features at the end of the year with a self-made Apple Silicon chip configuration. There has been further news in the market recently that Apple will cooperate with Apple Silicon to launch a self-designed GPU.

At the same time, it is rumored that both Apple Silicon and GPU will be produced using TSMC's 5nm process. TSMC maintains a consistent policy regarding this and does not comment on the status of individual customer orders.

Analyst Wang Zhaoli said that Apple’s annual shipments of computers are less than 20 million units, which is less than 10% of iPhone’s annual shipments. It is expected that Apple’s computer chip orders should have limited contribution to TSMC’s performance. However, Apple's continuous expansion of self-made product chips will have positive benefits for TSMC's operations.
