Recently, multiple sources have revealed that Apple is betting on the success of its first iPhone 16 series equipped with Apple Intelligence AI features and has informed suppliers to stock components for approximately 88 to 90 million smartphones. This marks an increase from the initial component orders for 80 million new iPhones last year.
Some component manufacturers have reported receiving orders exceeding 90 million units. However, they noted that Apple typically places larger initial orders and then adjusts the quantity after the product's actual market launch.
Jeff Pu, Managing Director at Haitong International Securities, stated that the company predicts this year’s new iPhone shipments will be around 88 million units, but he does not believe this marks the beginning of a "super cycle."
“We anticipate that the recovery this year will be relatively modest,” Jeff Pu said. “While the Apple Intelligence feature has promising potential, it may not bring a breakthrough in 2024. We believe that 2025 could be a more significant year as the broader AI ecosystem matures.”
According to research and estimates by Counterpoint Research, Apple’s revenue for the full year of 2024 could exceed $400 billion. Notably, this would represent another increase following a decline in revenue in 2023, driven not only by iPhone sales but by all of Apple’s hardware and services.
Looking ahead, researchers predict that once Apple identifies which elements can be monetized, it will directly generate revenue from "Apple Intelligence." Over the next few years, Apple Intelligence is expected to increase Apple’s services revenue by at least 10% to 15%.
