ASML: Demand for logic chips continues strongly until 2020. Storage is weak and recovering

Semiconductor chip equipment manufacturer ASML executives said that for the global semiconductor market, the demand for high-end logic computing chips is still very strong, but the memory market is relatively weak, but even so, the current memory market has begun. Gradually recovering.

ASML CEO Peter Wennink said in a media interview at the Morgan Stanley European Technology Conference that the demand for logic computing chips on the market is strong and will continue until 2020, but this situation will not disappear, but Relatively in the memory market, it seems that it needs to be weak. However, the overall memory market has gradually recovered. In the medium term, the overall performance is “positive”.

At present, ASML is the only manufacturer in the world to produce EUV and UV lithography machines. This equipment is used in the production of advanced semiconductor chips. It is also currently a supplier of advanced semiconductor process manufacturers such as Samsung, TSMC and Intel.

On October 16th, when the third quarter of 2019 was published, ASML reported net sales (netsales) of 3 billion euros in the third quarter of 2019, net income (netincome) of 627 million euros, and gross margin (43.7%). Moreover, it is estimated that the net sales in the fourth quarter of 2019 will fall below about 3.9 billion euros, up 30% from the third quarter, and the gross profit margin is about 48% to 49%.

In addition, PeterWennink also said that in the third quarter of 2019, in addition to completing a total of seven EUV systems worth 130 million euros, it also received orders for 23 EUV systems, not only set a record for the highest order amount in ASML single season, but also It is confirmed that both logic and memory chip customers are actively introducing the EUV system into mass production.

Peter Wennink also predicted that in addition to the shipment of 30 EUV equipment in 2019, it is expected to deliver 35 units by 2020, and will also be able to increase the number of deliveries to 45-50 EUV equipment in 2021 to meet market demand.
